Fort Myers, Fla., December 16, 2009— Wachovia Bank at the Verandah Shopping Plaza in North Fort Myers heard about Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization because they are the closest branch to ECHO’s Global Farm. ECHO Finance Director, Tina Ugland, became acquainted with the staff at the branch and introduced them to ECHO’s mission or reducing hunger and improving the lives of the poor.

Fort Myers, Fla., December 3, 2009—ECHO (Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization) has been awarded a grant of $20,000 to fund a Community Gardening Intern to work with the local community. Karyn Traum began her internship at ECHO in November learning tropical agriculture, while bringing to ECHO her valuable skills obtained while with University of Illinois Extension community garden projects. This grant will greatly increase ECHO’s capacity to work with the local community organizations.

Fort Myers, Fla., November 25, 2009- Since 1994, ECHO has held an annual agricultural conference in Fort Myers, Florida. Experts involved in agricultural and development work around the world attend three days of workshops and seminars to find answers to help the world's poorest communities grow their own food.

Fort Myers, Fla., July 14, 2009— FGCU will hold a course in organic gardening in the upcoming Fall semester 2009. Proceeds will benefit local non-profit, Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization (ECHO) whose main ministry is to assist those who are helping the poor overseas to feed themselves.
Location for this pilot course will be FGCU's Naples center near downtown Naples, but the course will also include field trips and "hands-on" activities. A certificate from FGCU will be given to all participants who complete the course.
