Fort Myers, Fla., November 25, 2009- Since 1994, ECHO has held an annual agricultural conference in Fort Myers, Florida. Experts involved in agricultural and development work around the world attend three days of workshops and seminars to find answers to help the world's poorest communities grow their own food.
This year's conference, to be held December 8th -10th, already has 240 registered attendees from over 42 countries. Most are professionals working internationally with agriculture development or related fields but interested individuals, university students and the public are also welcome.
Specific topics include fish production, the use of the Artemisia plant to treat malaria, highland fruit production, the nutritional aspects of grain amaranth, production of Bio-Diesel, poverty mentality and appropriate technology. Workshops will cover 50 different topics.
Key resource speakers include Tom Post, PhD, Christian Reformed World Relief Committee, Dr. Jane Morrow, Senior Advisor for Veterinary & Agriculture Projects at Samaritan's Purse, Angela Boss, Former ECHO Intern, K Robert Sanou, Development worker, Burkina Faso, Africa.
The conference will be held at Crowne Plaza hotel with hands-on workshops on the ECHO Global Farm.
