Purpose
of Research
ECHO
does research for the benefit of our network. We often read or
hear of ideas that we want to test and evaluate before we share
them with our network. Other times, our network asks for information
that requires experimentation before an answer can be given. Some
research is done here at ECHO, and some is done at Colleges by
professors and students. In the future, we hope to increase our
collaboration with Small Farm Resource Centers located in developing
countries.
Important research ideas that we come across are published in
our Technical Note Using Science to Help the Poor: Low-Budget
Research Ideas. If you are interested in tackling one of
these ideas, please do. Wed like to help by providing you
with updated information, contacts, and plant material. Useful
information that arises from such research will be made available
to our network of development workers.
If you are a student in your 3rd or 4th year of college or a recent
graduate and are interested in doing research at ECHO, consider
applying for our volunteer
research position.
