Community Garden Assistance

Growing Healthier Communities

Community gardens help to supplement food pantries, improve school lunch programs, increase neighborhood food security, create welcoming green spaces, and build relationships among neighbors.

But thinking through the steps to establish and maintain a gardening project can be tricky. ECHO provides free consultation to help schools, churches and non-profits within Southwest Florida with their community gardening projects.

Helpful Resources

On-site visits

On-site visits help local organizations design garden plans and address challenges.

Interactive Learning

Presentations at local schools help students learn about gardening and healthy eating.

Community Gardening Toolkit

A downloadable, free resource that outlines the planning needed to begin AND maintain a successful project!

Toolkit

We bring a unique perspective to the domestic community gardening movement, shaped by our agricultural work with farmers in many of the poorest regions of the world. Our Community Gardening Toolkit shares low-cost and low-input recommendations, which include the use of nutritious tropical perennials and subtropical plant varieties.
